Tom Lockyer was attended to by paramedics after collapsing during Luton’s Premier League game with Bournemouth.

A stretcher was brought out during a lengthy stoppage which saw players from both sides sent back to the changing rooms.

The defender, who captains Luton, was applauded by all four sides of the ground as he was stretchered off.

Lockyer collapsed during the club’s play-off final win against Coventry in May before being taken to hospital.

Reports from the ground suggest Lockyer was “alert and responsive” in the tunnel.

The match was stopped in the 62nd minute with Lockyer collapsing off the ball.

An update from the Luton X account, formerly known as Twitter, read: “There’s a break in play as Tom Lockyer seeks medical attention.

“We’re all with you, Locks.”

Prior to the medical emergency, Luton were holding Bournemouth to a 1-1 draw having surrendered the lead.

Fans took to social media to send well-wishes for the Welsh international, with one person commenting: “All thoughts with Tom Lockyer.”

A second said: “I hope everything’s alert with Tom Lockyer.”

Another commented: “Praying Tom Lockyer is ok.”

“Gutting hearing what’s happened with Tom Lockyer, get well soon, King”, another commented.

Luton manager Rob Edwards was seen rushing onto the pitch as the worrying situation played out, as concerned looking fellow professionals watched on.

The Wales national team took to X to send their well wishes, saying “our thoughts are with Tom Lockyer”.

The contest was abandoned almost half an hour after Lockyer had been taken off.

Players from both sides returned to the pitch and applauded the crowd.
