MS BANKS, Rapman and Wretch 32 are among the guest mentors for the new series of The Rap Game UK.
The trio will be joined by Aitch, Young T & Bugsey, D Double E, JME, Deno, Yungen, The Fanatix, Ashleigh Jade, Ayishat Akanbi, Kenny Allstar and Tiffany Calver when the show returns for its second series on BBC Three via iPlayer at 7pm on Thursday 22 October.
Hosted by DJ Target, and rap duo Krept and Konan, the competition sees six rising UK MCs travel to Birmingham to get a masterclass in rap, mentored by some of the biggest names in the business.
The unsigned artists will once again move into a luxury penthouse and take part in challenges which showcase the skills you need to make it in the industry. DJ Target, Krept and Konan will decide the winner – who will be offered a single record deal with Krept and Konan’s label, Play Dirty.
This year’s aspiring MCs will hope to be crowned the winner of the competition, which was won in 2019 by Kiico.
The rapper, who was aged 19 when he took the Rap Game UK winner title home and hails from north London, says his hometown made him the artist he is today.
Kiico told the BBC he discovered his passion for writing raps at the tender age of five. “When I was about five years old, I found this notebook of raps my dad had written. I picked it up and I was shocked man! I was really impressed. After reading them I knew without question that I wanted to be a rapper. Rap is the place where we can lay bare our realities and struggles – and for me, I’ve been through a lot,” he said.
Since winning he’s released new music and featured on Greazy alongside Krept and Konan, which was one of the tracks on Rapman Presents: Blue Story, an album inspired by the film.
