Nigel Farage has broken his silence on rumours he is set to go down under and join the I’m a Celebrity line up in a shock move.

The GB News presenter is in talks to become the latest political figure to enter the jungle.

Last year, Matt Hancock sparked controversy by appearing on the ITV hit show while serving as an MP.

Farage has been courted by ITV bosses several times in the past, previously ruling out an appearance and branding the show “humiliating”.

But this time, the former Brexit Party leader appears to have had a change of heart as he admitted he is giving it serious thought.

“Several times since 2016 I’ve had ITV saying ‘come into the jungle’, and they’ve offered me substantial amounts of money to do so”, he said.

“They have been back on the phone this year. The Sun mocked up as if I was there already and the Mail seems certain I am going to go.

“This year, I am giving it very, very serious consideration. And I will tell you why.

“You’ve got about 10 million young people who watch that programme. These are people that don’t really watch the news or read newspapers, but they still care about the country they live in and their futures.

“In many ways, the futures of young people have been blighted, they don’t have the same opportunities that their parents and grandparents had, and they would love to look for solutions.”

Farage admitted he has not come to a final decision on the matter, but the opportunity to “connect” with a younger demographic is one he is considering.

He said on GB News: “In my mind, if I was to do it, I might be able to connect with that audience.

“Goodness me, they all watch I’m a Celebrity. There are downsides to doing it as well.

“I haven’t fully made my mind up, but I am running a poll on my TikTok asking whether I should do it.

“I am in talks contractually and those talks have been going on for two or three days.

“There will be an absolute definitive answer in the next 48 hours.”

While Matt Hancock’s arrived in the jungle was met with widespread anticipation, he is not the only politician to have flocked down under.

Stanley Johnson arrived in 2017 as the oldest I’m a Celebrity campmate ever at the age of 82, coming seventh in the series.

Other names include Edwina Currie and Kezia Dugdale.
